The “Extended Radical Resection of Intestinal Tumors” was successfully completed by the Oncology Department of Sing May Hospital. The surgery lasted more than seven hours. After surgery, the patient was admitted to the ICU for monitoring. All vital signs remained stable, and the patient has now entered the recovery phase.
The patient is an elderly male with multiple metastases after colon cancer surgery complicated by partial intestinal obstruction (including liver metastases, lung metastases, multiple intestinal metastases with partial obstruction, multiple mesenteric metastases, abdominal wall metastases, and multiple peritoneal metastases).
After a multidisciplinary (MTD) consultation led by Professor Mu Feng and the oncology team, an “Extended Radical Resection for Colon Cancer” was performed, including ascending colon tumor resection, ileal tumor resection, right lower abdominal wall tumor resection, mesenteric multiple metastatic tumor clearance, umbilical abdominal wall tumor resection, and side-to-end anastomosis of the transverse colon and ileum. Due to severe intestinal adhesions, the difficulty of mesenteric dissection was high. The surgery lasted over seven hours. Postoperatively, the patient was admitted to the ICU for monitoring. His vital signs remained stable, and he has now entered the recovery stage.
